Arms proliferation: Security chiefs honour Senate’s invitation

Security chiefs Wednesday appeared before the Nigerian Senate over the proliferation of dangerous firearms and spate of killings by terrorists and hoodlums in Nigeria.

Their appearances followed a resolution last week by the Senate as a result of the mass killings across the country.

The Chief of Defence Staff, Abayomi Olonisakin; the Director-General of State Security Service, Lawan Daura; and other service chiefs—heads of the Nigerian Army, Air Force and Navy, were in attendance.

The meeting was, however, held behind closed door.
