EFCC arraigns Fayose, trial adjourned till midweek

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Monday arraigned former governor of Ekiti state, Mr. Ayodele Fayose on an 11-count charge bordering on abuse of office at the federal high court in Lagos.

The charges against Fayose were stealing, receiving money from Musiliu Obanikoro, a former minister, criminal breach of trust, illegal acquisition of property in Abuja and Lagos and illegally acquiring property in the name of his sister in Abuja, among others.

Fayose pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him.

Subsequently, Kanu Agabi, his counsel, filed a bail application on behalf of his client but Mojisola Olatoregun, the presiding judge, said the application would be considered later since he is entitled to bail.

She ordered that Fayose should remain in EFCC custody till Wednesday.
