FG committed to science, tech education — Minister

The Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu has assured Federal Government’s commitment to promoting science and technology education.
He made the pledge during at the flag- off of the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematic (STEM) and ICT Camp for Federal Unity Colleges students held at Federal Government College, Enugu recently.
Adamu stated that the significant role of Science and technology couldn’t be overemphasised as it holds the key to good health, development of new industries, poverty alleviation and conservation of the environment.
He said STEM and ICT Camp targeting students in basic and secondary schools, is one of the strategies for promoting science and technology education in schools, noting that the project would promote independent learning among students.
Adamu charged the camping students drawn from all Federal Unity Colleges in the South East to use the opportunity to prepare to face the challenges ahead, in a highly technological and competitive world. Speaking further, the minister expressed optimism that the camp would also sustain the interest of students in understanding STEM subjects and increase enrollment.
