Shehu Sani outwitted as El-rufai’s loyalist, Uba Sani, picks APC senatorial slot

Senator Shehu Sani (Kaduna Central) yesterday was outwitted by the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress led by the state governor, Nasir Elrufai, in picking the senatorial candidate for Kaduna Central to represent the state come 2019.

Despite being offered automatic ticket by the national secretariat of the party, the state chapter of the party went ahead with primaries which Shehu Sani did not participate.

Sani lost the party’s ticket to the Special Adviser to Governor Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai on Political Affairs, Malam Uba Sani.

Announcing the result of the exercise, Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, Chairman of the Primary Election Committee and a national official of the party declared Mr. Uba Sani as winner, having scored 2,088 votes to the senator’s 15.

Usman Ibrahim, former Kaduna North Local Government Council Caretaker chairman, came second with 129 votes.

Iduoriyekemwen said a total of 2,383 voters were accredited while there were 35 invalid votes.
